Art in the Family

The Voorhees Clan gather their talents for their 18th annual holiday show.

The Voorhees Clan gather their talents for their 18th annual holiday show.

They’re like the House of Medici, Hendo style. The Voorhees family numbers almost as many artists among its various generational branches as apples on an orchard tree. Reproduction pieces by the late patriarch and matriarch (Edwin and Mildred Voorhees, respectively, both landscape artists) are for sale at the upcoming Voorhees Family Art Show.

But living legacy builders Jane Voorhees (watercolor and pastel), David Voorhees (stoneware and porcelain pottery), Molly Sharp Voorhees (jewelry), and Elizabeth Voorhees Becker (photography) are the main attraction. (David and Molly live and work in Zirconia, and are often featured at Tigg’s Pond Retreat Center.)

This week marks the family’s 18th annual holiday show, held November 21 and 22 at 89 Woodward Ave. in the Norwood Park area of North Asheville. Expect new work by five Voorhees family members and two guest artists. Free.

The show runs from 10am-5pm Saturday and 12-5pm Sunday.
