At one time, Labor Day's main focus was to extol the virtues of working men and women — the strength and esprit corps of the trade and labor organizations. Now, the first Monday in September has morphed into a symbolic end of summer. What once was a major labor celebration is now associated more with a day of rest and parades, including our famous Apple Festival. With this in mind, Bold Life would like to know,
"What does Labor Day mean to you?"
Jeff Gates, Hendersonville
It used to mean a day off. Now, it means just another day at work.
Claire Crook, Hendersonville
The end of summer—time to get serious. We like riding our motorcycle around.
Hope Ashburn, Mills River
I'm getting together with my three sisters in Ohio and we're going to do some wild and "cwazy" things.
Desiree Ricker, Hendersonville
It means being home, Apple Festival, hanging out with my friends. This year will be different—I'll be in New York.
Kelli Jo Havener, Hendersonville
It's the best chance I get to spend time with my family. This year, I'll be in college and hope I can come home over Labor Day.
Emily Harris, Hendersonville
Family time. Me and my family go out and eat or barbeque at home. My sister just got married, so I'll probably just hang out with her and her husband.
