Voted “Best Running Series” in Western North Carolina, Race to the Taps 5K tests the limits on just how far participants will go for a beer or hard cider. Presented by Harry’s on the Hill, this is race number two out of a four-race series at Sierra Nevada Brewing Company in Mills River. The course begins at the off-site parking area and ends behind the brewery, where runners can enjoy time by the river with music, beer, a food truck, and other visiting sponsors. “Runners are encouraged to dress up in beer-inspired costumes and could be awarded King and Queen of the Race for the day,” says Carrie Griffin, event manager. Running awards will be provided first through third place, women and men, in eleven age categories. A special award goes to the person who ends in the exact middle of the pack (MOP).
