The Blue Ridge Ringers
The ancient sound of bells during holiday time stirs a primal Currier & Ives response in most hearts. Never mind that it’s so unseasonably warm the crabgrass has started to bloom: bells recall sleighs, and that sounds like winter, which feels like home.
Two handbell concerts will ring out in our coverage area this week: on Friday, December 18, at 7pm, the Blue Ridge Ringers perform at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd (22 Fisher Road, Brevard; 828-692-4910).
And on Sunday, December 20, as part of a service titled “Lessons and Carols,” the Golden Ringers will perform at 1:30pm at Mills River Presbyterian Church (10 Presbyterian Church Road). At 2pm, attendees of this public event are also invited to an old-fashioned community caroling, followed by Christmas-y refreshments upon return to the church. 828-891-7101.
