Bill and Jana Humleker
Since moving to Hendersonville 25 years ago, Bill and Jana Humleker have continued a tradition of philanthropy that was practiced by their parents in the Midwest.
“In those early years, I became involved in the community through two different women’s organizations. It seemed natural to volunteer because both of my parents were active volunteers in their hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin,” says Jana.
Currently, the causes closest to Jana’s heart are the Flat Rock Playhouse, where she has been a Board Member since 1993, and The Community Foundation of Henderson County. For the past three years, she has helped plan the Foundation’s annual Vintage Carolina fundraiser. “Working on the Community Foundation Board has given me a much more rounded and comprehensive understanding of all of the community’s needs.”
Bill has served two terms as the President of the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra and is currently acting as Treasurer. “The work of the classical composers resonates with me,” says Bill. “Live, symphonic music is a rare enough treat these days, and I want to do my part to make it accessible to our community.”
The Humleker’s have instilled the value of giving to their two daughters, Lindsey and Audrey. “We are doing our best to pass on to our girls the values our parents taught us,” says Jana. “There is a measure of personal satisfaction which makes your day worthwhile when you know you have done something good.”
Bill & Jana are two of the nicest people that anyone could want to know. They are sincere and bright, humble yet outgoing and a tremendous support to their community. I have known them for almost 20 years and have watched them grow and they are two of the most caring and loving people I have ever met. Time and time again they have come to my aid and I for one shall always love them. I am blessed to know them and have them as friends. They are beautiful people inside and out.
