Abstract Art: Emancipating the Mind
July 5, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Asheville Gallery of Art’s July show is titled Abstract Art: Emancipating the Mind and features the work of Sally Lordeon, whose paintings capture her passion for abstract impressionism. The show runs July 1-31 during gallery hours. A reception for the artist will be held July 5 from 5-8pm at the gallery, 82 Patton Avenue. The artist combines her expressive brushstrokes with the subtlety of veiled forms. She creates her paintings with acrylics on canvas.
Using a muted, earth-toned palette, Lordeon juxtaposes heavy texture, soft, blended color, and the suggestion of a horizon line to mimic nature’s vistas. She similarly shows her love of abstraction with her figurative works. Lordeon studied fine arts at Chatham University in Pennsylvania. She moved to Asheville more than 30 years ago. After a successful career as a technical writer and college textbook author, the artist returned to her first passion, which she calls the “divine pleasure of painting.” For further information about this show, contact Asheville Gallery of Art at 828-251-5796, visit the gallery website at www.ashevillegallery-of-art.com, or go to the gallery Facebook page.
