Beginner Beekeeper Education Course

An event every week that begins at 7:00 pm on Monday, repeating until February 27, 2017
The Henderson County Beekeepers Association (HCBA) and N.C. Cooperative Extension are offering the 2017 Beginner Beekeeper Education Course featuring classroom lectures and hands-on apiary sessions. The goal of the course is to provide the beginning beekeeper with the practical knowledge and skills required to successfully manage a colony of bees from receipt in spring through winter. Class size is limited. Registration is required; first time attendees will be given priority. Previous class attendees are encouraged to attend intermediate beekeeper education classes beginning in the spring of 2017. Lectures will take place at the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center in Mills River from 7-9pm on Jan. 16, 23, 30, and Feb. 6, 13, 20, 27. In addition, apiary sessions will be taught at Historic Johnson Farm in Hendersonville on March 4, 11, 18, 25 and April 8, 22 (subject to weather; times to be determined). The fee for the classroom and apiary instruction, book, and one-year HCBA membership is $75.
