Blue Ridge Escarpment Talk at FENCE
June 8, 2019 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Free
On Saturday, June 8, at 11am join naturalist Tim Lee in the great room at FENCE and discover the natural history of the southern Blue Ridge Escarpment. The discussion will begin atop the Blue Ridge Escarpment and explore the plants and animals of these high elevation habitats and how they survive on these islands in the sky. An abrupt drop of 2,000 feet will take you to the valleys and mountain cove forest that are home for many species that survive in cool moist environments. A South Carolina native, Lee has studied and taught as a naturalist and biologist throughout the southeast for more than 26 years. This presentation is free and open to the public thanks to the Kirby Endowment at the Polk County Community Foundation. FENCE is located at 3381 Hunting Country Road in Tryon.
