Building New Belgium’s East Coast Home in Asheville

June 14, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

Have you ever wondered why New Belgium, one of the biggest names in craft beer, chose to open a secondary location in Asheville? On Thursday, June 14, Hendersonville Green Drinks welcomes Sarah Fraser, the sustainability specialist for New Belgium Brewing in Asheville. She will discuss how and why the craft brewer selected Asheville as their new home and the work that went into rehabilitating their 18-acre campus, including brownfield remediation, stream restoration and native landscaping. Fraser is the sustainability specialist at the employee-owned New Belgium Brewing in Asheville. She is part of a sustainability team that supports the company’s environmental stewardship programs and engages Asheville coworkers in making progress toward the company’s ambitious energy, water, emissions and waste reduction goals. When she isn’t busy helping New Belgium reach its sustainability goals, you can find her in the great outdoors, doing anything from backpacking, trail running and biking, to birdwatching, beekeeping and learning about the native flora of the Southern Appalachians.
