Climate Stories NC

February 14, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

The Transylvania County Library and Transylvania Natural Resources Council will present Climate Stories NC on Thursday, Feb. 14, at 6:30pm in the Rogow Room at the library. The program will include several short films and a follow-up conversation. Film director David Salvesen will introduce the project and answer questions during the discussion period. Climate Stories NC is a film series that captures the voices of North Carolinians whose lives have been affected by changes in the climate. Featured are stories of farmers, beekeepers, fishermen, hunters, apple growers and more. Each brief film provides a look at North Carolinians who have experienced or witnessed changes in the climate and how it is impacting their lives. Salvesen is with the Institute for the Environment at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He conducts research, teaches, mentors students and provides planning and technical assistance to communities across North Carolina. Salvesen’s research focuses on land use policies, issues and trends and their impact on the environment and the quality and character of communities. Light refreshments are provided by the Friends of the Library.  For additional information contact Marcy Thompson at 828-884-1820 or marcy.thompson@transylvaniacounty.org.
