Fresh Color and Coffee: Managing Color in Your Paintings
June 16, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
$80
In this workshop, nationally-known artist Susan Webb Tregay will share eight color strategies that will help you understand and utilize color in sophisticated and polished ways. Applicable to all media and colorful crafts, she will simplify color theory into basic concepts. Each strategy will be explored through slides, demonstrations, handouts and painting. Working in watercolor (or acrylic), participants will select four of the seven strategies to apply to small paintings, using a modest coffee mug as your subject. Bring your favorite mug, or use one of ours to explore the different results that can be achieved by treating the same subject with different approaches. Throughout the workshop a second mug will be provided so students can enjoy sipping fresh brewed coffee from local, small-batch coffee roaster,Sharewell Coffee Co. Herbal will be tea available, too. Bring your favorite painting supplies. If you don’t have watercolors and would like to try them, we will provide everything for you. All levels are welcome; some painting experience preferred, but not required. Tregay is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society and National Watercolor Society. Her work has been exhibited in museums and galleries across the country, winning many national prizes, including eighth place in the annual American Watercolor Society exhibition.
