Get Outside and Be Safe Doing It: Hiking and Waterfall Safety

March 5 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

Transylvania County is home to some of the most beautiful natural scenery in the Southeast.  It is only natural to want to explore it but sometimes our excitement for adventure can cause us to overlook our own safety. Gorges State Park Ranger Neal Wilcox will provide tips for proper planning and preparation for mountain adventures on Thursday, March 5, at 6:30pm in the Rogow Room at the Transylvania County Library. This presentation is for anyone who spends time outdoors already or would like to get out more, as well as those who have out of town guests who enjoy hiking and exploring our mountains. Make sure your future trips are beautiful, fun, and safe. Wilcox has worked as a park ranger for Gorges State Park for the last few years and encounters public safety issues in the outdoors on a daily basis. Light refreshments are provided by the Friends of the Library who support the Discover Natural Transylvania program series on the first Thursday of most months. For additional information contact Marcy at 828-884-1820 or marcy.thompson@transylvaniacounty.org.
