Hanji Flower Lamp Techniques with Pamella O’Connor
February 17, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 11:00 am, repeating until February 18, 2018
Asheville artist Pamella O’Connor will demonstrate paper gathering techniques used to create texture on her signature line of hanji flower lamps. Hanji is traditional handmade paper from Korea, made from the inner bark of Paper Mulberry, a shrub-like tree that grows throughout Asia. Hanji is extremely durable, capable of being stretched, feathered, gathered, and twisted. It’s also highly malleable, making it an ideal material for creating various handicrafts. O’Connor was first introduced to hanji during a two-year teaching stint in South Korea. Returning to Asheville in 2010, she started her own business, Hanji Home. She will have a variety of finished hanji flower lamps on display and available to purchase during her demonstration.
