Heroin(e): Documentary Film Screening with HopeRx

October 23, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Free

Every day, more than 100 Americans die from opioid overdoses, including heroin and opioid pain medicines. The documentary Heroin(e) is an Academy Award nominee for Short Documentary that profiles three women who work to break the cycle of opioid addiction one person at a time. The fire chief, judge and ministry volunteer see opioid addiction as a public health issue in their community, and these women are saving lives, helping the addicted find treatment, and supporting individuals in their recovery. Julie Huneycutt, executive director of HopeRx in Hendersonville, will discuss how she is working locally to break the cycle of opioid addiction. She will share information on the safe storage and disposal of prescription medication.
