Historic Saluda Tour of Homes
June 1, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm$20
The Historic Saluda Committee sponsors its biennial historic homes tour. Stops include homes from 1900 that are now private residences, bed and breakfasts, and the oldest building in town, the Saluda United Methodist Church. The restored Saluda Train Depot will also be available for tours. Proceeds from the tour will preserve the legacy of Pheobia Cheek Sullivan, a remarkable African-American woman, healer, leader and entrepreneur who in 1948 founded Sullivan’s Missionary Baptist Church. The building once echoed with the voices of Mahalia Jackson and Sam Cooke. Plans are underway to rebuild the temple and create a memorial to Sullivan. Tickets for the tour are available at Saluda City Hall, Saluda Historic Depot, Heartwood Gallery, and Saluda Center on the day of the event.
