Ikebana Arrangements for the Tokonoma

Ikebana International of Asheville is sponsoring its March program. Ikebana, translated from Japanese as “living flowers,” is flower arrangement known worldwide for its grace and beauty. The program will be at the Folk Art Center, 382 Blue Ridge Parkway. Everyone is invited to attend. This program will feature Japanese flower arrangements for the “tokonoma.” Tokonoma is a recess or an alcove in Japanese houses, typically few inches above the floor, where artistic articles are displayed for guests. Artistic items can include flower arrangements, paintings, calligraphy and other art forms.
