iNatural—Citizen Scientist: There’s an App for That

April 2, 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

Would you like to be a Citizen Scientist and help collect information about the natural world around us? Jonathan Marchal from the North Carolina Arboretum will present, “iNatural—Citizen Scientist” at the Transylvania County Library’s Discover Natural Transylvania program on April 2 at 6:30pm.

Smartphones are quickly becoming a valuable tool to aid in exploring the natural world. Participants will learn about the functions of several of these mobile applications to aid in exploring our natural world and share observations and experiences with others. Apps available for both Apple and Android devices will be covered, with a special emphasis on iNaturalist. Marchal will share how to use this worldwide network of naturalists to become a citizen scientist and aid researchers in learning more about the flora and fauna that call Western North Carolina home.

Light refreshments are provided by the Friends of the Library who support the Discover Natural Transylvania program series on the first Thursday of most months.  For additional information contact Marcy at 828-884-1820 or marcy.thompson@transylvaniacounty.org.
