The State of the French Broad River Watershed

November 2, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

French Broad Riverkeeper Hartwell Carson will speak on The State of the French Broad River Watershed at the Discover Natural Transylvania program in the Transylvania County Library’s Rogow Room on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 6:30 pm. Carson has worked to protect and defend the French Broad River for the past 11 years. He was the first responder to Asheville coal ash problems and worked to protect the river and the nearby community.  He created the French Broad River Paddle trail by building new campsites and access points that now link over 140 miles of the French Broad River and has published a paddle trail map book, app, and online guide to the paddle trail. Carson has a degree in Recreation and Resource Management from the University of Georgia and Master’s of Science from the University of Montana. Discover Natural Transylvania takes place on the first Thursday evening of most months at 6:30pm in the Rogow Room.  The December program will feature the Togerson family’s 75-minute film covering their 149-mile rafting adventure of the French Broad River. These free programs are supported by the Friends of the Library.  For additional information contact Marcy Thompson at 828-884-1820 or marcy.thompson@transylvaniacounty.org.
