Summer Bird Walk

August 9, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 9:30 am

Free

International bird guide Aaron Steed leads a walk through the woodlands around FENCE to search for a variety of warblers, tanagers, sparrows and more. Though August is a summer month, it is the start of the fall migration for many local birds. Many of the summer bird residents are still around at this time of year and perhaps still singing, and while certain species such as barn swallow and purple martin have largely gone, the first of many southbound songbird migrants are just beginning to trickle through. This event is free and open to the public. Birders of all expertise are welcome. Remember to wear comfortable shoes and bring a water bottle and binoculars if you have them.
