The 2019 Aaron Copland Festival

Brevard Music Festival continues its tradition of a “festival within a festival” celebrating a late, great influencer of classical music. This year the honoree is Aaron Copland, ”the dean of American composers.” Concerts include “Chamber Music of Aaron Copland” (July 8); “Copland and Mexico” (July 13); “Copland and the Cold War” (July 17); “A Copland Celebration”with BMC Artistic Director Keith Lockhart leading “Appalachian Spring,” “The Third Symphony,” and “Clarinet Concerto,” featuring Steve Cohen (July 19); and “Copland’s America” (July 21).
