The Rosenwald Schools

May 17, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

$20 – $30

Blue Ridge Center for Lifelong Learning offers a course that looks at the history of the Rosenwald Schools in Appalachia. The schools were developed out of an early 20th century partnership between Booker T. Washington and Sears President Julius Rosenwald. Together they created more than 5,000 schools in the South to advance African American education. Afterward former students that attended the Rosenwald Schools in Mars Hill and East Flat Rock will take part in a question and answer session. Call to register.
