The Skunks of North Carolina

March 7, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

This month’s Discover Natural Transylvania features the skunks of North Carolina. The presenter is Alan Cameron, a 14-year volunteer with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. He was the presenter for the popular Wildlife in Transylvania County series in 2017 featuring critter cameras used in DuPont State Forest. Cameron collected almost all of the pictures and videos for this presentation by use of multiple game cameras set out in DuPont State Forest and the Pisgah National Forest, where he does the majority of his wildlife research.  His game camera pictures of the Eastern spotted skunk in Henderson County are the first recorded there. The program will include skunks from around the globe plus local skunks. He will discuss how to rid yourself and your pets of skunk spray and how to get rid of a problem skunk living under your deck. Light refreshments are provided by the Friends of the Library who support the Discover Natural Transylvania program series on the first Thursday of most months.  For additional information contact Marcy at 828-884-1820 or marcy.thompson@transylvaniacounty.org.
