The Timeless Art of Ikebana
August 28, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 1:30 pm$55
Ikenobo is the first ikebana school and is 555 years old. For any art form to survive, it has to evolve and today the ikenobo designs span the centuries from the original formal forms seen in monasteries to very modern free styles seen in galleries. Stephanie English will talk about and demonstrate these forms. English has been active in ikebana and Ikenobo since 1993 and has achieved the rank of senior professor, 1st grade, the highest rank possible within Ikenobo. She has served in many leadership positions in ikebana in Naples and North America and has been president of the Ikenobo chapter in Naples since 2009 where she teaches on a regular basis. She has given demonstrations and programs throughout Florida as well as her former northern home in the Chicago area and in Asheville and Hendersonville where she regularly conducts programs and workshops for both ikebana and Ikenobo. RSVP before Aug. 17. Make check payable to: Ikebana International, AVL Chap. 74 and mail it to Diane Harker, 4 Foggy Ridge Way, Travelers Rest, SC 29690.
