The Twelfth Day of Christmas with the Asheville Symphony Chamber Chorus
January 4, 2020
An event every day that begins at 12:00 am, repeating until January 5, 2020
The Asheville Symphony Chamber Chorus will present its 12th Day of Christmas Concerts, O magnum mysterium, Jan. 4 and 5. As the title suggests, the concerts will begin with four settings of “O magnum mysterium” (which refers to the great mystery that animals should see the new-born Lord lying in their manger) by the English Renaissance composer William Byrd, the early Baroque Italian Giovanni Gabrieli, the 20th century French composer Francis Poulenc and the 21st century composer Ola Gjeilo. Also featured will be original contemporary carols for cello and chorus, settings of Appalachian carols as well as more familiar carol arrangements. The concert on Saturday, Jan. 4, will start at 3pm at Trinity Episcopal Church, 60 Church Street in Asheville. Tickets can be purchased at ashevillesymphonychorus.com or at the door. On Sunday, Jan. 5, the concert starts at 3pm at the First United Methodist Church, 566 South Haywood Street in Waynesville. Donations are accepted at the door.
