Wear Orange Day
June 3, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pmFree
On Saturday, June 3rd, Americans across the country will be “Wearing Orange” and staging more than 200 hundred community events to observe National Gun Violence Awareness Day. In Hendersonville, members of the local chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America will be in front of the historic Henderson County Courthouse on Main Street from 2pm-4pm. There will be activities for children, music, free oranges, as well as information about Moms Demand Action and its programs. Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America is a grassroots, nonpartisan organization that supports the 2nd Amendment, but believes common-sense solutions can help decrease the epidemic of gun violence that kills more than 90 people each day and injures hundreds of others. Why Orange? Orange is what hunters wear in the woods to protect themselves and others from harm. Orange is a bright, bold color that demands to be seen. Orange expresses the organization’s collective hope for a future free from gun violence. Mayor Barbara Volk will issue a proclamation supporting National Gun Violence Awareness Day in the City of Hendersonville. Merchants in town will post orange flyers about the program and an orange banner will hang from the Historic Court House balcony
