Run Like the Wind (is Chasing You)

The Frostbite 10K in Fletcher is known as a challenging course. But it's not this challenging.

The Frostbite 10K in Fletcher is known as a challenging course. But it’s not this challenging.

Bold Life has conducted an online forecast search via our favorite local-weather site, Ray’s Weather Center, and can report clear skies with a high near 60 degrees for Sunday, February 21 — decidedly balmy weather for Fletcher’s annual Frostbite 5K, 10K, and one-mile fun run.

But mountain weather changes quickly, so don’t call us out for any unexpected precipitation that day.

Bookending an icy stormlet earlier in the week, the race, now in its 24th year, provides a view of Hutch Mountain; the course also traverses over quite a few hills itself, making it a favorite for seasoned runners — and a goal to conquer for beginners.

It’s a whole day full of healthy-minded activities. After the runs are over, a Family Fun Day and Wellness Expo runs throughout the afternoon, featuring games, booths, music, and food at the Lelia Patterson Center (1111 Howard Gap Road). Part of the proceeds from the entry fee benefits the local Big Brothers, Big Sisters program.

1:30-4:30pm. Runs start at 2pm. Register online at idaph.net/events/frostbite-races.
