Carl Sandburg National Historic Site is opening a temporary exhibit titled Dressing for the Occasion: Mid-Century Sandburg as Celebrity and Family Man. The exhibit, which opens May 13 and runs through October, features clothing and accessories from the park's permanent collection and loaned items from the Sandburg family. Visitors will see the style, culture and feel of mid-century America. Hendersonville Film Society presents this 2001 film starring Russell Crowe as John Forbes Nash Jr. and Jennifer Connelly as his wife Alicia. Nash was a mathematician known for his contributions to game theory, differential geometry and the study of partial differential equations. The film is not considered an accurate depiction of Nash's life and focuses on Nash's mental health issues and how they affected those around him. Donations are appreciated.

Guided walks will be held in July in downtown Hendersonville. Participants will learn about the city's history and its interesting architectural designs. There will be stops at the Historic Courthouse, Skyland Hotel, City Hall, and historic shops. Cost is $10 for ages 10 and older. Space is limited, so call to make reservations. The tour meets at the Hendersonville City Hall at the Police Department entrance.

Hendersonville Film Society presents this 1970 Italian film that's considered a classic drama. It tells the story of the aristocratic and intellectual Finzi-Contini family, who lived in the small Jewish community of Ferrara. In the fall of 1943, they and many in their social circle were deported to German concentration camps. Only one returned. The film won the 1972 Oscar for Best Foreign Film. Donations are appreciated.
