Brevard Music Center’s March community concerts feature one of the world’s greatest harpists.

Expanding its free Community Concerts series for the first time into Hendersonville, in partnership with the Henderson Symphony Orchestra, Brevard Music Center has chosen a glorious soloist to herald the occasion. Moldovan-born Ina Zdorovetchi is the principal harpist with the Boston Lyric Opera and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, a distinguished member of the BMC faculty, and winner of the International Harp Contest in Israel — the most prestigious competition of its kind in the world.

“We’re excited that she will also be a featured guest artist during the 2016 summer festival season, performing Ginastera’s Harp Concerto at the August 5th concert,” notes Cally Jamis Vennare, director of marketing and communications with Brevard Music Center. On March 8, Zdorovetchi’s performance at the First United Methodist Church (204 Sixth Avenue W.) will include works by Bach, Saint-Saëns, Fauré, and Tournier.

“We are always thrilled to welcome our artist faculty back to perform [for] our community concert series,” says Jason Posnock, director of artistic planning and educational programs for BMC, and a performing violinist. “[Zdorovetchi] is a world-class performer and teacher who will bring her flair and artistry to a varied program of works that span three centuries of music.”

The March concerts include guest appearances by Posnock and his wife, Dilshad Posnock, a flutist.
